Two days after the murder of a ten-year-old girl in Kukatpally, police are yet to make any arrests, even as fresh details have emerged from the investigation.

The post-mortem report revealed that the victim,a class six student, suffered around 20 stab injuries. Balanagar DCP K. Suresh Kumar said the wounds were small incisions, likely inflicted with a small knife.

The official also said that certain articles recovered from the scene pointed towards the possibility of black magic being involved, though officers were quick to add that nothing has been established so far.

The incident came to light on Monday afternoon when the victim’s father, Krishna, returned home briefly from work to collect a tiffin box for his son. He found the front door bolted from outside. On entering, he discovered his daughter lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. At the time, her mother was away at work and her younger brother was in school. The girl had stayed home as her school had declared a week-long holiday.

The Kukatpally police booked a case and formed special teams to identify and arrest the culprit.
