# 1991 Jammu Blast Accused Arrested After 35-Year Hunt

Government Railway Police (GRP) Jammu arrested Altaf Hussain Sheikh from Bijbehara in Anantnag district on August 13, ending a 35-year manhunt. Sheikh was wanted for the April 2, 1991, bomb blast at Platform 1 of Jammu railway station that killed three people, including two paramilitary personnel, and injured 18 others. Sheikh had been living under a concealed identity as a successful businessman. He was booked under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) and other charges. One accomplice, Aman Ullah Khan, was arrested on the day of the blast; two other accused remain absconding. Sheikh was produced before a TADA court for further proceedings.
