A 20-year-old law student of a private college was allegedly assaulted by his batchmates in Yelahanka recently.
The victim, Sesu Srujan, was treated at a hospital after the incident, and later filed a complaint with the police on Friday against two persons identified as Prajwal and Askhay.
Based on the complaint, the police charged the accused under sections 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023, for further investigation.
Srujan, a first-year law student, was planning to return home in his car after attending the freshers’ day event of his college, when two of his female batchmates requested him to drop them home. Srujan agreed and when they got into his car, the accused confronted them demanding that they wanted to talk to one of the girls. The girl, however, refused to entertain them stating that she wanted to go home since it was already late.
While Srujan tried to reason with them, the accused allegedly dragged him out of the car and assaulted him with a metal bangle and ring. Following this, they reportedly left a bleeding Srujan lying on the ground, and threatened him with dire consequences if he filed any complaint.
