# 21 CBI personnel get President’s Medals for Independence Day

Twenty-one Central Bureau of Investigation personnel have been awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service and Medal for Meritorious Service on Independence Day. The CBI said six received the Distinguished Service Medal, including Assistant Sub-Inspectors Ramesh Chand and Madan Lal Dhiman, and Deputy SP Sanjay Kumar Samal. Fifteen were given the Meritorious Service Medal. Across the country, 1,057 police, fire, home guard and correctional services personnel received gallantry or service medals. Of the 301 gallantry medals, 197 went to personnel from Left Wing Extremism-affected areas. Among those honoured was Kerala Police SP S. Sasidharan, the investigating officer in the Sabarimala gold loss case, who was the lone officer from Kerala to get the Distinguished Service Medal.
