# 40 injured as Volvo bus falls off Andhra bridge after crash

A private Volvo bus collided with an Eicher truck and plunged off the Pogururu bridge on NH-44 in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district around 4 am on Sunday, police said. Forty passengers were injured, with 10 in critical condition. Both vehicles fell from the bridge near Pamidi mandal. Police, passersby, and an excavator rescued those trapped, including the bus driver who was seriously injured. The injured were taken to Pamidi government hospital, with serious cases later referred to Anantapur Government Hospital. A case under Section 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered for rash and negligent driving, and an investigation into the cause is underway.
