Police and Illinois state officials are investigating after more than 50 decomposing bodies were found improperly stored at a Chicago funeral home. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said the remains were discovered on Thursday at South Chicago Chapel, where funeral director Johanna Morgan's licence had been temporarily suspended days earlier. State records show Morgan and her husband Clark previously ran a crematory that was shut down for mishandling remains. Clark Morgan's funeral director licence was revoked in 2024. Residents had complained of a stench for months. No arrests have been made. Families are now being asked to identify relatives.
