A new Finsafe India report finds that 55% of working professionals are not financially prepared to meet expenses if they lose their job, up from 51% last year. The survey of 4,532 employees shows that while stock market participation has risen from 46% to 58%, basic safety nets remain weak. Only 31% have both an emergency fund and adequate insurance, up from 26% a year ago. The consequences of job loss now ripple across entire households, the report says. Concern about supporting elderly parents nearly doubled from 16% to 30%, and 70% worry about retirement and children's education. Nearly half of employees rely solely on employer-provided insurance, which ends with the job.
