# Telangana draft electoral roll to shrink by 73.5 lakh

Telangana's draft electoral roll is set to drop by over 73.5 lakh names after the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), according to the chief electoral officer. The state's electorate would shrink from 3.38 crore to about 2.65 crore. The largest category of 'uncollectable' forms is 45.2 lakh voters who permanently shifted, followed by 11.3 lakh untraceable and 9.2 lakh deceased. Separately, nearly six lakh applications have been filed for Family Register Certificates, a document introduced by the Congress government in July. The BJP has alleged the move is meant to protect the Congress vote base during the SIR. The government says the certificate is a legitimate family record. Of the 5.97 lakh applications, 3.15 lakh have been approved and 2.8 lakh are under process. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 17.
