PATIALA: In a major breakthrough against organised theft in rural Patiala, the city police arrested six members of an interlinked gang involved in multiple cases of vehicle and equipment theft.SSP Patiala, Varun Sharma (IPS), revealed that the police team, headed by SI Sukhdev Singh, SHO Bakhshiwala, and ASI Harbans Singh, in charge of the Century Enclave Police Post, arrested the suspects from villages Rakhra, Nawan Rakhra, and Kalyan.
The operation was part of an ongoing campaign against anti-social elements in the district.During the raid, police recovered a stolen tractor, a rotavator, six motorcycles, and six mobile phones. An FIR was registered under case number 37/25 at Police Station Bakhshiwala.Modus Operandi: The police revealed that the arrested individuals operated as a group, targeting unattended vehicles and agricultural equipment parked near houses or in open areas.
Once the thefts were committed, the stolen items were collected and sold, with the proceeds divided among the gang members.The police identified the accused as Vikram Singh (31), of Nawan Rakhra village; Parminder Singh alias Magha (24), of Kalyan – previously involved in two theft cases; Gagandeep Singh alias Guddu (26), resident of Nawan Rakhra; Sukhveer Singh alias Sukhi (27) and Bobby Singh (24), both of Rakhra village; and Satnam Singh (22), of Nawan Rakhra. The police confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the full extent of the gang’s activities and other possible accomplices.
