# Indonesia Earthquake Kills At Least 38, Triggers Landslides

At least 38 people were killed and 13 injured after a magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck off eastern Indonesia early Saturday, The Times of India reports. About 2,000 residents fled to temporary shelters as buildings collapsed, landslides blocked roads and power and communications failed in parts of the region. The US Geological Survey, cited by NDTV Profit, placed the quake at a depth of about 10 km, with its epicentre 68 km north-northwest of Ende in East Nusa Tenggara. Rescue teams had yet to reach Nagekeo because of blocked roads. A tsunami warning was lifted after about three hours, with waves below one metre recorded in several areas. NDTV Profit reported at least 20 deaths, while The Times of India reported 38.
