# 7.7-magnitude earthquake off Indonesia kills at least two

A shallow 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia’s Flores region early Saturday, killing at least two people, injuring two and collapsing buildings, according to Indonesian authorities cited by Greater Kashmir, The Times of India and National Herald. The US Geological Survey placed the quake 10 km deep, 68 km north-northwest of Ende in East Nusa Tenggara. Several aftershocks followed. Indonesia briefly issued a tsunami warning for four provinces and asked coastal residents to move inland. The warning was lifted after monitoring found no dangerous sea-level changes. Hospitals evacuated patients and shifted beds, oxygen cylinders and other equipment outdoors. The Times of India’s headline reported five deaths, but its report, like the other sources, said at least two people had died.
