About 70% of the world's rice bran oil potential remains untapped, according to BV Mehta, Executive Director of the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA). Speaking at the International Conference on Rice Bran Oil 2026 in Bangkok, Mehta said global potential is around 8 million tonnes (mt) but current production stands at just 2.4 mt, leaving 5.55 mt unexplored.
