# 8 arrested from banned Manipur outfits, arms and IED seized

Manipur police and security forces have arrested eight cadres of banned underground outfits in the last 24 hours, recovering a cache of arms and a 4.6 kg improvised explosive device (IED). Hindustan Times reports arrests across Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tengnoupal and Silchar in Assam. The Hindu, however, reports four militants arrested in two Imphal Valley districts on Friday for extortion. The total includes cadres from Socialist Revolutionary Party, UNLF-P, PREPAK, RPF/PLA, KCP and KYKL. Arms recovered include pistols, grenades, live rounds and military fatigues. Police say intelligence-based operations continue across the state.
