# CINTAA executive committee resignations shake actors’ body

Eight elected members of the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) executive committee have resigned, citing unilateral decisions by President Poonam Dhillon and Senior Vice President Padmini Kolhapure. The resigning members allege Dhillon issued official communications and represented the association without committee approval, and that both leaders visited government offices with privately engaged lawyers passed off as CINTAA's legal counsel. General Secretary Upasana Singh confirmed 11 total resignations, including the eight elected members. CINTAA's legal counsel, Advocate Suvigya Vidyarthi, has rejected claims that the executive committee is dissolved, stating the constitution requires more than 50 per cent of elected members to resign for dissolution. Vidyarthi said vacancies have been filled by the next-highest vote-getters, and accused the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) of overstepping its authority at the behest of "disgruntled individuals." CINTAA maintains it remains operational and will pursue legal steps to protect its autonomy.
