# Furnace explosion at Jharkhand steel plant injures nine workers

At least nine workers were injured when a furnace chamber exploded at a private steel plant in Murpa village, Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district, on Sunday afternoon. Two workers with critical burns were referred to a private hospital in Ranchi. The others were treated at a local hospital. Chief factory inspector Manish Sinha said hot metal splashed after the blast. An inquiry has been ordered. The injured, from Bihar and Jharkhand, were identified by hospital staff. Labour department officials plan to visit the plant to review safety.
