Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma announced that 92 remote villages in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region will hoist the national flag for the first time on August 15 after being freed from Maoist control. The villages include 33 in Bijapur, 50 in Sukma, and 9 in Narayanpur. This will be the first national festival since the state eliminated armed Maoist cadres on March 31, 2026. The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign includes Tiranga Yatras, outreach to families of security personnel, and renaming over 500 locations after martyrs. On Republic Day 2026, tricolour was raised in 41 Bastar villages for the first time. Previously, the banned CPI (Maoist) called for boycotts and raised red and black flags.
