# Assam flood toll hits 98, CM seeks national solutions

Floods in Assam have killed 98 people across 13 districts, with Cachar the worst hit at 22 deaths, ASDMA data shows. Over 1.55 lakh people remain displaced, 55 relief camps are running, and the Dhansiri and Kushiyara rivers are flowing above danger levels. Golaghat district alone has 58,750 affected. More than 10,748 hectares of crop area has been submerged. Chief Minister Himanta Sarma has called for 'national solutions' to recurring floods rather than a 'national disaster' tag, asking academia and civil society to develop sustainable flood-control measures. Separately, boxer Lovlina Borgohain visited flood-hit Golaghat and urged authorities to prioritise housing, as many families have lost their homes completely.
