In a major drug bust, Guntur district police arrested three individuals for possession and attempted sale of 500 grams of ‘Hydro Ganja’, valued at approximately ₹7.5 lakh. The arrests were made near Kaza Toll Plaza on April 15, based on credible intelligence received by Mangalagiri Rural CI Srinivas Rao and SI Venkateswarlu.
Disclosing the case details, Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said that the arrested were identified as 35-year-old Indukuri Ramakrishnam Raju alias Krishna, 30-year-old Puruganti Anil Kumar and 27-year-old Nagaraju Sri Harshavardhan Varma. The trio had sourced the high-grade drug from a supplier named Amit in Bengaluru and were en route to Eluru to distribute it.
Police seized the contraband along with two cars and three mobile phones. Preliminary investigations revealed that Anil Kumar, previously involved in three cases (including two drug offences), introduced the others into the trade. He claimed ‘Hydro Ganja’ had high demand, fetching nearly double the purchase price per gram.
SP Satish Kumar warned strict legal action against anyone involved in narcotics and urged youth to steer clear of drugs, which could destroy their future. He commended the efforts of the police team and DSP Murali Krishna for their swift and effective action.
