Andhra Pradesh government’s support sought for the protection of folk arts

Gidugu Ramamurthy Telugu Bhasha -Janapada Kalapeetham founder-president Badri Kurmarao on Friday urged the government to extent its support for the protection of folk arts which would enable youngsters to know about the importance of culture, tradition and Indian medicine through folk songs and dances. Kaumudi Parishad president Dhavala Sarveswara Rao, secretary Manapragada Sahiti and others felicitated Mr. Kurmarao on the occasion of the organisation’s 90th anniversary held on the premises of Sri Venkateswara Kalyana Mandapam of Vizianagaram.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kurmarao said that the government could urge major temples to adopt at least one folk art so that the folk artistes would get livelihood and the move would enable the youngsters to learn the art. Kaumudi Parishad honorary president Kattumuri Chandrasekharam, Vijayabhavana cultural organisation general secretary A. Gopala Rao and others were present.
