Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Monday, following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. This meeting is part of a series of high-level discussions the Prime Minister has been holding in response to the attack.

Just a day earlier, PM Modi met Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and two days before that, he held talks with Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff. 

The Prime Minister has promised strict action against the terrorists behind the attack and has assured justice for the victims. He has also been reviewing security measures and India’s response to the incident.

India has taken strong steps against Pakistan, which it blames for supporting terrorism. These measures include downgrading diplomatic ties, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, and closing the Attari border. The government has also cancelled visas for Pakistani nationals and banned all direct and indirect imports from Pakistan.

Additionally, Indian ports are now closed to Pakistani ships. In response, Pakistan has also banned Indian ships from using its ports.

On Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also spoke out strongly. He said, “As Defence Minister, it is my duty to protect our borders and respond firmly to anyone who dares to attack our country.”

The Pahalgam attack, which took place on April 22, has shocked the nation. In its aftermath, the government has taken a firm stand to send a message that terrorism will not be tolerated.
