The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday handed over a man who allegedly trespassed into Air Force Station at Sulur near Coimbatore to the police. As per preliminary investigations, the intruder is suspected to be mentally challenged.
The police said that a man aged around 30 trespassed into the air base compound on Wednesday evening. Personnel in-charge of the security at the air base secured the man and questioned him. The IAF later handed over the man to the Sulur police station with a letter from an officer of the 43 Wing.
According to the police, the man did not carry any identification proof. When the police asked his whereabouts, the man spelt a name – Sanjit Ekka. Other words uttered by the man were not comprehensible.
The Sulur police made an entry in the community service register on the incident based on the letter received from the IAF. The police on Thursday sought the help of migrant workers from different States to speak with the man to find out his whereabouts and to find out the languages known to him, said police officer.
