The Shivamogga Lokayukta police arrested a medical officer in Shikaripur while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 to give the post-mortem report of a deceased on Tuesday.
The Lokayukta police inspector, Gururaj N.M., and his staff trapped and arrested Gopal G. Harigi, who was working at the Shikaripur government hospital. The action followed a complaint by Sunil N.Y. of Kappanahalli in Shikaripur taluk.
The medical officer had demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 to hand over the post-mortem of Sathish Manchi of Shikaripur taluk, who died recently.
His family members were not willing to give money. Sunil, a close associate of the family, filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police.
The police trapped him while accepting ₹10,000 at his office on Tuesday, stated a press release issued by Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Manjunath Chowdhari M.
