Youth Killed in Group Clash Over Cricket; Attacker on the Run

Thane: A 20-year-old youth lost his life in a violent clash that erupted over a cricket game near Dnyansadhana College in Sathewadi, Thane, around 5:00 PM on Monday. The deceased was identified as Shivam Karotiya, a resident of Sathewadi, said Shivaji Gaware, Senior Inspector of Wagle Estate Police Station.

Gaware added that two persons were booked and are on the run.The officer said the incident began when Shivam’s younger brother, a 16-year-old boy, was playing cricket with local youths near the college. A dispute arose during the game, which was initially diffused by family members. However, tensions escalated again shortly afterward.“A fresh altercation broke out in front of the college involving both groups. During the scuffle, one individual from the rival group allegedly stabbed Shivam in the back with a sharp iron knife, and he later succumbed to his injuries,” Gaware added.The main attacker is currently absconding, while the other person is also booked in connection with the incident. Police have launched a manhunt, and further investigation is underway.
