IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma’s Team India has finally knocked Steve Smith and his valiant Australian side out of the Champions Trophy. India are still undefeated in the ongoing 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy and they now look like hot favourites to win the coveted silverware. This is India’s third consecutive white ball final under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. before qualifying for the finals of Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit Sharma-led Team India played the 2023 ODI World Cup Final and the 2024 T20 World Cup Final.
Rohit Sharma will now hold the distinction of captaining India in four consecutive finals, across formats. Not to forget the fact that Rohit Sharma had also led the Indian team in the 2023 World Test Championship Finals, against Australia. After the happenings of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, there were serious questions asked about Rohit and his future with the Indian cricket team, but as far as his credentials as a leader are concerned, there are no questions about it.
Courtesy of India’s semi-final win against Australia in the Dubai International Stadium, Rohit Sharma has now become the first-ever captain to reach the finals of all ICC tournaments. Rohit won the World T20 last year and he’ll be eyeing the ICC Championship Trophy riding high on the form in which his team is in. The ‘Hitman’ himself has been in fine touch and has been giving the starts that the team needs. India will either play South Africa or New Zealand in the finals of the Champions Trophy.
Rohit Sharma now has the chance to become only the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to win the ICC Champions Trophy. India missed out on the final of the World Test Championship, but if India end up winning the Champions Trophy, that certainly will cement Rohit Sharma’s legacy as a captain.
India have avenged their shocking loss against Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup Final. The Australians had defeated India in Ahmedabad to clinch their sixth ODI World Cup. India have now knocked out Steve Smith and his team out of the Champions Trophy and they now have a reason to smile as they are in line to win yet another ICC Trophy within a span of 12 months.
