Cannabis has become increasingly popular worldwide due to reduced restrictions and legalization trends. However, the findings from this meta-analysis warrant significant concern about its impact on cardiovascular health. For India-where discussions on recreational cannabis legality remain largely dormant-it acts as an importent cautionary tale before advancing policy reforms. Treating cannabis like tobacco in regulatory frameworks could provide a balanced approach if legalization is pursued. The study also highlights gaps in existing knowledge about specific impacts across different types or forms of cannabis products, suggesting the need for more rigorous research globally and domestically if usage increases under softening regulations. Public education campaigns on perceived health risks would play a critical role in preventing misuse while protecting broader public health interests.
