Son claims ED action on Anil Deshmukh part of Op Lotus

Mumbai: Former home minister Anil Deshmukh‘s son, Salil, on Monday alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) action against his father was part of the BJP‘s “Operation Lotus“.Salil said the ED initiated criminal proceedings against his father on the basis of hearsay information. “We have reasons to believe that ED’s illegal action was BJP’s Operation Lotus. Former Mumbai police commissioner was instrumental in planting a bomb under the industrialist’s bungalow. NIA was in the process of arresting him, however BJP helped him to scape,” Salil said.

Salil’s statement assumes significant political importance, since former Mumbai C P Parambir Singh, who had made serious allegations against the former home minister, later retracted before the Justice Chandiwal commission. “Then Paramb Bir had stated then he did make the statement against Deshmukh, but he did not have any evidence it was on hear says,” Salil said. — Prafulla Marpakwar
