A two-month old baby died at Kakkur in Kozhikode, Kerala, on Sunday (July 6, 2025) allegedly due to complications caused by anaesthesia administered to perform circumcision at a clinic.

The infant had reportedly developed breathing problems after the local anaesthesia and was soon shifted to a private hospital in Kozhikode city as the clinic did not have a paediatrician on duty. However, the child died before reaching the hospital.

The exact reasons of the death can be ascertained only after the autopsy to be performed at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode on Monday.

Meanwhile, the parents of the infant, who hail from Chelannur in Kozhikode district, have filed a complaint with the Kakkur police. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
