The Kerala High Court on Monday set aside the suspension order of T.K Ashraf, a teacher at TAM UP School, Edathanattukara, which was issued earlier this month after he reportedly made a social media post criticising the introduction of Zumba classes in schools in the State.
The Bench of Justice D.K. Singh observed that the school manager had prejudged the matter and only perfunctorily considered Mr. Ashraf’s reply to the show-cause notice after issuing the suspension order, which was a violation of the principle of natural justice.
‘Consider afresh’
The court directed the manager to reconsider the matter afresh, after duly considering Mr. Ashraf’s reply. The order was passed while hearing Mr. Ashraf’s plea challenging his suspension. In his petition, Mr. Ashraf contended that he was issued a suspension order though he had submitted his reply within the stipulated time frame.
