# AAI invites applications for 39 consultant posts from retired officers 2026-10-24T14:11:22+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a notification to engage retired Short Service Commission Officers as consultants on a one-year contract. A total of 39 posts are to be filled across six airfield locations: Pune (11), Kanpur (2), Purnea (4), Goa/Dabolim (15), Port Blair (4) and Darbhanga (3). Eligible candidates are retired officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard who are graduates and have completed the Basic ATC Course or equivalent, with at least five years of cumulative ATC duties including one year at a Joint User Defence Airfield. The maximum age is 50 years as of 1 October 2026, and the gap since retirement must not exceed six years. Applications must be sent only by email to [email protected] by 11 November 2026. Selection will be through interview only, and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the verification or interview. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The notification targets retired Short Service Commission officers with specific ATC qualifications and experience at joint-user defence airfields, narrowing the applicant pool to a specialist group. The extension clause caps service at 55 years, ensuring consultants cannot be retained beyond that age. Fixed remuneration without annual increments and no HRA mean the financial package is predetermined and static for the contract term. The deadline has already been extended from 1 October to 11 November 2026, which may indicate an initial shortfall of eligible applicants. ## Coverage - freejobalert.com Straight listing of notification details with no editorial comment This brief was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
