# CJP Instagram handle restored after brief Independence Day takedown

The Cockroach Janta Party’s official Instagram account was taken down briefly on August 15 and restored later the same day, according to the group. CJP called it an attempt to silence its voice on Independence Day. Founder Abhijeet Dipke also criticised the removal. Instagram’s role in the takedown was not established in the reports. The incident comes as the CJP campaigns on unemployment, education and the condition of government schools. The outfit recently led student protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address youth concerns in his Independence Day message. The CJP was formed after Dipke reacted to remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant about “cockroaches”. The CJI later said he had been misquoted.
