# Abhishek Banerjee’s aide appears for second day in land fraud case

Sumit Roy, the personal assistant of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, appeared before the CID in Kolkata on Sunday for a second day of questioning in the Salboni land fraud case. He was quizzed for about 10 hours on Saturday after remaining untraceable for weeks. The Supreme Court has given him interim protection from arrest until August 14, provided he cooperates. The CID is investigating alleged government land grabbing in Paschim Medinipur district. Roy's questioning follows the arrest of former TMC MLA Sujoy Hazra. Police had searched Banerjee's Diamond Harbour residence in June looking for Roy. The Supreme Court ordered Roy to appear without any lawyer or companion.
