Telangana Jagruti president and BRS MLC K. Kavitha cautioned against the growing trend of abusive discourse in public life and normalisation of indecency in political and digital spaces.
Telangana needs fresh faces of active leadership rooted in values and cultural identity and not abusive discourse, she said while addressing – Leader, political leadership training programme organised by Telangana Jagruti for its cadre.
“Abusing and swearing at others has become a fashion. But those who resort to abuse are often those without real content,” she said underlining the need for sharp criticism without being disrespectful.
Stating that the organisation is committed to grooming future leaders, she said leadership doesn’t come from birth or position but from learning, changing, and moving forward. She also criticised YouTubers and influencers who, she alleged, thrive on negativity for views.
Ms. Kavitha also stressed the importance of cultural identity in State-building.
“No nation can survive without a cultural foundation. Telangana has a strong cultural heritage, and Telangana Jagruti has fought for its preservation, be it language, dialect, festivals like Bathukamma and Bonalu”, she said.
She reminded that Mahatma Gandhi was never an MLA or MP, yet he is remembered across generations as he used positive thoughts as weapons for Independence. A modern reinterpretation of Gandhian philosophy, which balances peace with self-respect, is the need of the hour, she said.
