Actor-activist Chethan Ahimsa on Saturday announced he will launch a new regional party in Karnataka before January, with the registration process in its final stage. Speaking in Mangaluru, he said the party would be built on constitutional values of equality, social justice, secularism and scientific temper, and would exclude organisations driven by Hindutva or other narrow agendas. According to Times of India, he opposes the proposed Bidadi township project and criticised existing parties for functioning only on personal gain. He expressed doubts about the Prajakeeya party and said leaders like Tamil Nadu CM Vijay and Andhra Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan would only understand real issues if they interacted with ordinary people on the ground.
