# Actor Tiger Shroff’s car fired upon in Mumbai, police confirm 2026-10-18T19:31:45+00:00 | India | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets (8 source reports) Mumbai Police have confirmed that actor Tiger Shroff's car was fired upon in the Juhu area on the evening of Sunday, 18 October. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mohit Garg said Shroff is safe and unhurt. The driver, Firdaus, was injured in the hand. Police have formed 15 teams and begun forensic investigation. Opposition leaders criticised the state government over law and order. Congress's Sachin Sawant called the incident ‘shocking’ and accused the chief minister of failure. NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Rohit Pawar questioned the safety of ordinary citizens if celebrities are not secure. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said he spoke to Shroff and his father Jackie Shroff, assuring them of government support, and stated that security for all prominent individuals will be reviewed. Police are examining CCTV footage and tracing the attackers' escape route. The number of rounds fired has not been disclosed yet. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Coverage splits between official assurances and opposition attacks. BBC reports police statements verbatim: DCP Garg confirming Shroff's safety, 15 teams deployed, and forensic work underway. It also carries opposition leaders' sharp criticism of the state government over deteriorating law and order, citing prior incidents involving Salman Khan and Baba Siddique. Divya Bhaskar's piece is a different story, about a separate espionage case, and is not used here. The single story is uniformly reported across outlets as a factual police briefing with political reactions appended. No source contradicts the core facts, the dispute is only over political responsibility. The concrete next step is the police investigation and security review, which Deputy CM Shinde announced will cover all prominent individuals. ## Coverage Coverage: 8 sources, 1 neutral - bbc.com (neutral report) Reports police statement and opposition criticism without slant - bbc.com (2) - bbc.com (3) - bbc.com (4) - bbc.com (5) - bbc.com (6) - divyabhaskar.co.in - divyabhaskar.co.in (2) This brief was synthesised by AI from the 8 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
