Adnan Sami has revealed that his 1997 hit Lift Karadey was dismissed by his music label Magnasound as a 'sadak chaap' song they thought would fail. In an exclusive Zoom interview, Sami said the label, which wanted another romantic track after the success of Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao and Barsaat, refused to invest in the peppy number after a six-month argument. The singer said the music video was then shot in a guerrilla format, with no budget or permissions. Sami, 54, also spoke about his love for Mumbai's music industry and reacted to questions over his Padma Shri honour.
