Afghanistan posted their highest ODI total of 343 for 9 in Belfast on Wednesday, beating Ireland by 42 runs to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. The previous record of 339 for 6 was set against the same opposition in February 2024. Opener Sediqullah Atal scored 143 off 120 balls and Ibrahim Zadran made 107 off 118, sharing a 231-run stand for the second wicket, Afghanistan's highest for any wicket. In reply, Andy Balbirnie hit a century for Ireland, but Rashid Khan's two quick wickets and Yamin Ahmadzai's four-wicket haul restricted them to 301. The final ODI is on 14 August.
