# Ahmedabad PG guard rapes student on terrace, held within hours

A 25-year-old interior design student was allegedly raped by a security guard on the terrace of her paying guest accommodation in Ahmedabad’s Anandnagar area on the night of August 8. Police say the accused, Dharam Singh, tied a wire around the woman’s neck when she tried to leave, assaulted her, and then locked her on the terrace before fleeing. The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police formed 10 teams and arrested Singh within hours on the morning of August 9. He is a native of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, and had joined the PG as a guard only four days earlier. Investigators are examining CCTV footage that shows Singh moving between floors using the lift.
