# AI-assisted cyberattack hits Taiwan government agencies

Taiwan's government agencies were hit by an overseas cyberattack in July that combined manual hacking with AI agents, the ministry of digital affairs said on Tuesday. The attackers used a tool called Open Claw to probe systems and data from July 20. The ministry said affected units had "handled" the incident and declined to name the source country. Separately, Israeli cybersecurity firm Dream said it uncovered an AI-driven campaign that stole personnel records from Taiwan's justice ministry and scanned its nuclear safety agency. Dream declined to release the underlying data. Taiwan has issued new protective guidelines in response.
