# AI hiring outpaces job losses in India by 51,000: Nomura

Artificial intelligence has created 83,100 jobs in India compared with 31,921 documented layoffs and attrition, a net gain of more than 51,000, according to a Nomura report. LinkedIn CEO Dan Shapero said AI engineering jobs in India are growing 51% year-on-year. The gains are not evenly distributed. Nomura noted a two-tier labour market with weaker demand for entry-level workers. A survey by ICRIER found 55% of IT firms reported a decline in entry-level hiring. Most AI-related jobs remain in the technology sector, mainly for data annotation and linguistics.
