# AI may become optional subject in UP schools; draft under review

The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council has completed the second phase of a workshop to create a State Curriculum Framework for secondary schools. A proposal from the Joint Director of Education, Lucknow, suggests making Artificial Intelligence an optional subject. The draft is not final and has been sent to education officials and government school principals for feedback. Other ideas under consideration include assessing students' emotional development, introducing language laboratories, and making schools more enjoyable. The Additional Secretary for Textbooks, Skand Shukla, said the state is preparing its own framework because the national one focuses heavily on elementary education.
