# AIIMS-like hospital proposed in Cooch Behar’s Mathabhanga

West Bengal minister Nisith Pramanik announced an effort to establish an AIIMS-like hospital in Mathabhanga, Cooch Behar, on Friday. Pramanik, speaking at a victory procession, said the hospital would serve residents of lower Assam, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, and neighbouring Bhutan. He stated his promise during the Assembly election campaign was now being pursued. Separately, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista confirmed the West Bengal government will send a proposal to the Centre for a medical college in Kalimpong, citing a letter from Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Bista said the college would reduce the need for patients to travel long distances to North Bengal Medical College.
