# Akshay Kumar shot with Big B hours before marrying Twinkle Khanna 2026-08-24T19:56:27+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Akshay Kumar was shooting a film with Amitabh Bachchan just hours before he married Twinkle Khanna in 2001, filmmaker Suneel Darshan has revealed. Darshan told Minutes of Masala that Akshay casually informed the set he was getting married that evening. The shoot at Natraj Studio wrapped around 7:30 pm. Darshan said Akshay then borrowed his makeup artist's motorcycle, put on a helmet, and rode home unnoticed. The wedding was a private affair with about 50 guests. The Times of India reports that Darshan also criticised Twinkle Khanna's remarks about the film Mela, saying she should have been grateful for the opportunity. NDTV reports the bike detail without Darshan's criticism of Twinkle. Akshay and Twinkle married on January 17, 2001, in Mumbai and have two children. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The Times of India adds a critical view of Twinkle Khanna from Darshan, framing the wedding anecdote within a broader, mildly sensational account of past film disputes. NDTV sticks to the straight wedding-day detail, omitting that criticism entirely. The difference suggests Times of India chose a more gossip-oriented angle, while NDTV reported the core anecdote neutrally. Readers get a fuller picture from Times of India but with a side of outdated film industry grievance. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 1 neutral, 1 sensationalist - timesofindia.indiatimes.com (sensationalist) Leads with drama of last-minute shoot and bike, adds Darshan's unrelated criticism of Twinkle - ndtv.com (neutral report) Reports only the wedding-day anecdote without commentary or extra criticism This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
