# Alia Bhatt’s Alpha OTT release set for August 28 on Netflix 2026-08-23T15:08:49+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets YRF Spy Universe film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, will begin streaming on Netflix from August 28, 2026, in Hindi. The digital premiere follows a box office disappointment where the film earned around Rs 58.86 crore net in India and Rs 99.10 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk. Neither Netflix nor Yash Raj Films have officially confirmed the release date. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is the first female-led spy action thriller in the franchise, with Alia Bhatt playing R&AW operative Sita and Sharvari as operative Durga. The film features cameos by Hrithik Roshan as Kabir and supporting roles from Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor. The movie had a modest theatrical run when released on July 3, 2026, and now seeks a wider audience on streaming. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both sources are wire-level straight reports on the Alpha OTT release date, offering no partisan framing. 123telugu.com leads with the locked streaming date and box office disappointment. Times of India copies the same detail but adds more context, box office figures from Sacnilk, the plot summary, and the franchise history, while explicitly noting that the date is unconfirmed by Netflix or Yash Raj Films. The core difference is thoroughness: 123telugu.com treats the date as firm, Times of India hedges. The measured read: the OTT premiere is widely expected by August 28, but no official announcement has been made, and the film's theatrical weak run, Rs 58.86 crore net in India, makes digital performance the key metric to watch. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - 123telugu.com (neutral report) Leads with the confirmed date and box office flop framing. - timesofindia.indiatimes.com (neutral report) Reports the same date as an unconfirmed rumour and adds box office figures from Sacnilk.
