Alibaba plans to seek a share of revenue from major commercial users of its Qwen3.8-Max AI model, Reuters reports, citing two people familiar with the company’s plans. The model is expected to be released next week as an open-weight offering, allowing developers to download and adapt its underlying settings. The Hindu reports that Qwen3.8-Max has 2.4 trillion parameters, compared with 2.8 trillion in Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3. Alibaba says it can process text, images and video, handle up to 1 million tokens, and uses only 95 billion parameters for each request. The model ranked highly on Arena.AI, though Anthropic models remained ahead in text comparisons.
