# Allahabad HC seeks UP reply on fire safety and private clinics

The Allahabad High Court has given the Uttar Pradesh government one week to file a comprehensive response on fire safety after a Lucknow coaching-centre blaze killed 15 people in June. The state told the court that a new fire safety standard operating procedure was almost ready. The bench warned that evasive replies would not be accepted and ordered the case to be listed on August 24, 2026. In a separate public interest case, the Lucknow bench sought replies from the Centre and Uttar Pradesh on regulation of private hospitals and clinics. It also asked for district-wise details of medical facilities, including ventilators, and information on specialised hospitals and trained staff. The next hearing in that matter is set for September 21.
