# Allahabad High Court raps BCI for delaying law course approval

The Allahabad High Court has criticised the Bar Council of India (BCI) for delaying a Lucknow college’s application to start a five-year law course, calling the failure to schedule an inspection “manifest arbitrariness”. Justice Abdesh Kumar Chaudhary said the BCI cannot force a functional college to waste an academic year because its inspection team is busy. The court directed the BCI to complete the inspection and decide on the application for the 2027-28 session within three months. Separately, the BCI has extended the deadline for law colleges to submit affiliation renewal applications to August 31, the fourth extension this year. Bar & Bench reports that several National Law Universities still lack approval for some courses.
