A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi named him as his favourite politician from the BJP, former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh said his personal and family ties with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will always remain, but he remains politically committed to the BJP. Captain Amarinder, who served two terms as Punjab CM during the Congress regime, joined the BJP in 2022 after merging his Punjab Lok Congress. His remark comes after he told PTI in December 2025 that he finds the BJP rigid and the Congress more flexible, which had sparked a political furore in Punjab.
