Haryana DGP Ajay Singhal visited injured police personnel in Ambala on Thursday after a Sikh community protest over a delayed FIR turned violent. Protesters blocked a national highway demanding a case against Gursimran Singh Mand, whom NDTV describes as an anti-Khalistani terrorist. Police used tear gas and a lathi charge to clear the road after talks failed. An FIR was eventually registered, but the standoff continued as protesters demanded the release of detained youths. Six to seven police officers, including a DSP, were injured.
