# Amit Shah to open National Security Strategies Conference on Monday 2026-08-23T15:06:08+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the two-day National Security Strategy Conference in New Delhi on Monday, with more than 850 officers from police and security forces across the country participating in a hybrid format, officials said. The ninth edition of the conference, organised by the Intelligence Bureau, will focus on contemporary threats including the growing challenge of drugs and narcotics, along with strategies to disrupt their financial networks. Senior officers from states and union territories will join both physically and virtually. The previous edition in 2025 had discussed threats from external forces and their domestic linkages. Officials said the conference aims to strengthen coordination among law enforcement agencies and assess existing security challenges. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both sources report the upcoming 9th National Security Strategy Conference in neutral, wire-style terms, giving no insight into editorial stance or framing differences. The coverage is uniform straight reporting. The conference itself signals a deliberate shift in security focus: after previous editions addressed external threats, the 2026 gathering expressly adds drugs and narcotics to the agenda, and the hybrid format with over 850 officers suggests a drive for wider participation from state police. Watch for whether concrete outcomes, a national drug action plan or new financial-tracking powers, follow the two-day deliberations. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - greaterkashmir.com (neutral report) Leads with home minister's attendance, wires key details, no editorial comment, uses attributed official phrasing only. - newindianexpress.com (neutral report) Adds 2025 precedent, drug-focus speculation, and explicit reference to external forces, but stays within official attribution.
