# Amitabh Bachchan buys Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV 2026-08-20T09:07:17+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly added the Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV to his private vehicle fleet. The red-coloured electric SUV, registered in his name with the number plate GV1001, was recently spotted, indicating it is not just a rental for an event or shoot. The Mahindra BE 6 is built on the company's dedicated electric architecture and offers a futuristic design. Bachchan has chosen the Pack Three variant, which has a starting price of Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The 79 kWh battery pack delivers a claimed driving range of 683 km on a single charge. The company claims the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 20 minutes using a 180 kW DC fast charger. Regular charging with an 11.2 kW charger takes 8 hours, while a 7.2 kW charger takes about 11 hours. Mahindra has also launched the BE 6 Sporteq, with a starting price of Rs 11.45 lakh (ex-showroom) under the Battery-as-a-Service model. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The sighting of Bachchan in a Mahindra BE 6 is a significant branding win for the automaker as it pushes its electric SUV into the premium lifestyle segment. Celebrity endorsements often drive aspirational value, and Bachchan's stature could help normalise electric vehicles among affluent buyers who might otherwise prefer imported luxury EVs. The key number to watch is whether Mahindra's BE 6 bookings, which opened in December 2024, cross the 30,000 mark in the coming months, as initial demand has been strong. ## Coverage - aajtak.in Leads with 'killer look and price' and celebrity spotting, prioritising drama over concrete purchase confirmation.
